Workshop & Facilities

Mechanical and electrical builds, repairs, and storage in Longyearbyen

Kolibri Geo Services operates a dedicated mechanical and electrical workshop in Longyearbyen, giving us the ability to build, modify, and repair equipment on-site—without waiting on mainland suppliers or outside contractors. This independence is a core strength of our work in polar conditions, where reliability and adaptability matter.

  • Mechanical Workshop

We carry out fabrication and assembly in-house using materials suited to each task—whether that means welding in steel, stainless steel, or aluminium, or combining them with other components. From custom frames and sled mounts to brackets, housings, and drill parts, we build solutions that meet the practical demands of Arctic fieldwork.

  • Electrical Workshop

Our electrical workshop supports the assembly, testing, and repair of sensors, power systems, wiring harnesses, and field electronics. We manage software configuration, upload new programs, and ensure systems are ready for deployment in wet, cold, and remote conditions. Whether it’s maintaining existing setups or integrating new instrumentation, we keep field electronics running reliably.

  • Custom Builds & Repairs

The workshop allows us to quickly modify existing equipment or build new tools to meet specific scientific goals. We also carry out emergency repairs—either in the field or in Longyearbyen—ensuring your project stays on track even if things don’t go to plan.

  • Storage Facilities

We offer both warm and cold storage for scientific equipment, supplies, and samples. This is especially useful for long-term projects, or for researchers who need to stage gear in Svalbard before or after their field season.
